This Apprenticeship Programme is endorsed by the ‘Rolls-Royce & Bentley Specialists Association’ (RRBSA) which is dedicated to the preservation of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars – It is a prestigious apprenticeship programme which has been developed to ensure the specialist skills required to service, maintain and restore pre-war, post-war and modern Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars are passed on to the next generation of Engineers and continue to thrive within the Associations member companies.

Established in 1984, RR&B Garages is one of the leading independent Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor car specialists and a proud member of the ‘Rolls-Royce and Bentley Specialist Association’.

The company has established a reputation for high quality workmanship that is second to none and has drawn many discerning clients to it facilities for servicing and restoration from around the world. RR&B Garages specialise in Bentley Continental, GT, GTC and Flying Spur range of motor cars but have experience of all models of Bentley and Rolls Royce from vintage through to modern classics.

The UK and International Classic Vehicle Restoration industry has grown significantly over the last decade. It has a shortage of skilled and trained specialists and therefore offers great prospects and opportunities to keen and enthusiastic applicants.

Apprentices will gain experience of servicing, maintenance, restoration, renovation and Re-manufacturing specialising in the Bentley Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur range of motor cars.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

The ideal candidate must have a keen interest and a strong passion for the Bentley and Rolls Royce vintage and modern classics.

Some previous work experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

• Good communication skills
• Excellent practical skills
• The ability to work quickly and work to very high standards
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions

 

Personal qualities

Successful candidates must:

  • Have good organisational skills
  • Show willingness and desire to learn
  • Be able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Share a true passion for motor vehicles

 

Qualifications required

Previous motor vehicle work experience is useful but not essential, GCSE (or equivalent) Grades 4 to 9 (A-C)  Maths and English are preferred but not a requirement.

Future prospects

On completion of the Apprenticeship Programme, apprentices will be trained and qualified as a Classic Vehicle Technician. Employment after completion of the third year is subject to performance and a position being available.

Things to consider

There is a high expectation that successful candidates will work hard, be conscientious and represent the company well on all occasions. Appearance, attitude, timekeeping and personal presentation will all be taken into account throughout the interview process. From April 2017 the National Minimum Wage for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

Full time employment with training working towards achieving IMI Level 3 qualifications in Classic Vehicle Restoration.

Apprentices will gain experience in each specialist department working alongside skilled craftsmen. Apprentices will attend college on block release where they will be taught the engineering principles and theory behind each system and process.

They will gain practical experience of working on components and vehicles and participate in events and enrichment activities throughout the programme.

Successful applicants will attend college on a residential block-release programme delivered over 36 months.  College will be from 10.30am Monday to 2.00pm Friday. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the company.

In order to ensure that apprentices are competent in completing tasks on their own, Assessors will observe tasks being carried out in the work place at every 6 – 8 weeks. Assessors and Tutors will provide a strong support network to ensure that Apprentices progress and succeed.
