    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

If you are hard working and seeking a career in the engineering industry, this is a fantastic starting point.  The successful candidates will be required to work with a team of experts on hot drinks and chilled food systems. 
The job includes:


  • Full refurbishment of vending equipment 
  • Safely stripping down machines
  • Testing components and fault finding
  • Ordering new components from stores.
  • Full re-build to industry standards.
  • To carry out Portable Appliance Testing and issue certificates
  • Administration of paperwork will be involved 
  • Abiding to Health and Safety Standards

Basic IT knowledge
 - Good level of written accuracy and attention to detail
 - Able to demonstrate a mechanical or electrical aptitude (in hobbies or interests outside school)

Future prospects

On completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship, individuals will have the opportunity to apply to progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship and subsequently onto a relevant Higher Education (HE) qualification and / or promotion within the workplace.

Training provider

Competency based qualification - The NVQ is delivered through practical and written assignments which are carried out in college or sometimes in the workplace and apprentices will be required to produce work tasks and build an e -portfolio of evidence.

Knowledge qualification - College based Technical Certificate delivered on a day release basis.

Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English delivered in the classroom

Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) - are delivered alongside the competency qualification via workbooks.
