As Tring Park’s educational activities continue to expand, the busy Finance Office would benefit from the assistance of an apprentice, who would be responsible for the following:

  • Purchase ledger; assist the Finance Administrator to record invoices, ensure they are authorised and paid on time, carry out regular statement reconciliations, keep accurate records and files.  Process credit card statements and payments.
  • Billing; assist the Deputy Bursar with recording charges and entering into the billing system.  Busy times are December, April and July/August.
  • Payroll; assist the Finance Administrator, as required. 
  • Nominal Ledger; assist the Management Accountant in entering journals, running reports, and carrying out reconciliations, as required.

Future prospects

This apprenticeship offers the right candidate a superb opportunity to learn a wide range of financial skills in a unique and interesting organisation. The skills and experience obtained, combined with the AAT qualification, will provide a very strong foundation to build a career in Finance, and would be attractive to a range of employers. Employment opportunities may exist within the school on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

There are 3 key times in the year that are particularly busy in the Finance Office. The apprentice must be available to work at these times, and arrange their holiday accordingly. The school is in the centre of Tring, and accessible by car, bus, train or bicycle. The train station is approximately 1.5 miles away from the school. The standard working day is 8.30am to 5pm. Please note the school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Training provider

The apprentice would be expected to attend college 1 day per week, on a day release basis, working towards the AAT qualification. 

In house training will be provided on all tasks that the apprentice is expected to carry out, for example on how to use the financial systems.
