    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

UK Construction College’s JEF-CEP programme has given young people their first insight into a career in construction. Re-branded as the Construction Academy, this course will continue to give you the opportunity to learn basic skills in Construction. If you’re unsure which sector of the construction industry you want to work in, this 12-week programme is ideal for you!

You’ll learn the basics in four key trades — Roofing, Bricklaying, Joinery and Plastering — which will help you decide which area you would like to specialise in. Our helpful and experienced tutors will also be able to give you guidance if you’re still not sure about the career path you would like to take at the end of the course.

In addition to teaching you construction skills, we will also help you develop transferable skills. These are vital to achieving success in the workplace, and completing any apprenticeship you may start. You’ll learn about the importance of time-keeping, standards, health and safety plus so much more!

Qualifications required

No Qualifications are essential, however GCSE's in Math's and English are preferred. If you don't have Math's and English we will help you achieve your functional skills.

Once you have achieved your Level 2 qualification you will then go on to achieve your Level 3 and/or secure a permanent job
