The successful apprentice will learn general welding and fabrication skills and the main job role will include the following:

  • Cutting of various size metal products
  • Drilling
  • Grinding
  • Clean various metal fabrications
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy
  • Reading drawings and fabricating metal components
  • Assisting with installations of vacuum lifting systems at customers' sites around the U.K. and occasionally in Europe
  • MIG welding of all fabricated assemblies

Things to consider

This role will include early morning starts when the apprentice is required to go out on site work and will, on occasions, mean staying away overnight. The apprentice will be required to attend In-Comm Training Services, in Aldridge, two days per week as part of the apprenticeship training at level 2. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We have an enviable and growing reputation for providing total customer satisfaction, complete reliability and for producing high quality products within agreed timescales. Our work includes light to medium fabrications made to drawing, residential hand-crafted wrought iron gates, railings, balconies, handrails and staircases made to order. We also supply and install commercial security fencing and gates including wrought iron and palisade. We manufacture and install construction steelwork and design and fabricate specialist tooling using Mild Steel, Aluminium MIG and TIG / Stainless Steel welding. We also design and manufacture crane and jib and post systems for industry which work with vacuum lifting equipment to eliminate manual handling in commercial operations and at airports.
