The vacancy is for a Health Care Assistant to work as part of an established team in caring for the needs of the residents.   

The principle responsibilities are as follows:

  • To contribute to the efficient operation of the Home.
  • To work as part of a team, Key Worker and give support to other staff.
  • To contribute and participate in staff meetings/staff training.
  • To adhere to Home Policies and Procedures.
  • To observe the Conditions of Employment and Health and Safety Policy.
  • To enhance and promote the client’s quality of life.
  • To work under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge or Senior Carer.
  • To be caring, sympathetic and tactful when dealing with clients and relatives.
  • To assist clients with their personal care giving help in areas of bathing, washing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene and sanitary requirements.
  • To promote physical, mental and social recreational activities and participate in them.
  • To report and record relevant information, relaying any concerns to the senior members of staff.
  • To take care of the Home and its contents and to consider the appearances of the Home.
  • To ensure that the bedrooms and common facilities are clean and hygienic.
  • To treat the clients individually with respect and preserve dignity.

Those under 18 require two days off per week and cannot work more than 40hrs/week or more than 8 hours/day.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour from 1st October 2016. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Reality Check You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work.
