You will be part of a small team of highly skilled IT/Electronic technicians dismantling, assessing repairing/refurbishing and re-assembling a variety of electronic devices in the AUTO ID market.

As an apprentice in Electronics you will be trained in the following tasks:

  • Electronics inspection training
  • To understand and interpret electronic boards
  • Problem solving ability and fault find to component level
  • To participate in route cause analysis and take corrective action
  • To develop various repair methods
  • A good standard for hand soldering
  • To understand soldering reflow methods using IR solder station
  • To provide test documentation to achieve full standards of traceability – such as repair reports
  • To build, upgrade and then test Auto ID hardware to defined standards
  • To disassemble various Auto ID hardware
  • To understand a variety of software platforms and operating systems
  • Use of standard test equipment and configurations procedures to stage software
  • Cleaning electronic equipment to highest standard levels
  • Fully pre-test and calibrate products to defined company procedures
  • Peripheral tasks such as learning shipping procedures, packing and other small admin tasks

Requirements and prospects

  • Have a high interest in IT and a strong aptitude in Electronics

  • Have good PC skills

  • Have a good attention to detail to maintain a high level of production standards and efficiency

Qualifications required

Ideally a minimum 4 GCSE’s C and above Including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)

 

Future prospects

Full time opportunity available as well as the possibility as undertaking a level 4 qualification.

Training provider

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Reading for up to 12 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The qualifications consist of:

  • Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
  • L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
  • L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths, ICT (if applicable)
