Main duties will include using in-house database systems along with a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite to produce documents and maintain records and spreadsheets.

You will also carry out a range of administrative tasks and projects, including:

  • Liaising with staff in other departments and with external contacts.
  • Communicating via face-to-face, telephone and email with other departments and with external contacts.
  • Organising and storing paperwork, documents and computer-based information.
  • Photocopying, scanning and printing various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues.
  • Producing documents and maintaining records, spreadsheets and databases.

Desired skills

It would be beneficial to have some previous administration experience in a similar role along with a good working knowledge and interest of Microsoft Office.

Personal qualities

Good communication skills (written, spoken and listening) are essential along with the ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

Being able to prioritise and plan ahead is important and the post holder will also need to have good attention to detail along with a willingness to learn and be able to shift priorities easily.

Qualifications required

Grades A-C in Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent.

There may be the possibility of career progression and further training on successful completion of your apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This role may occasionally require you to work additional hours as overtime and you must be willing to travel as required. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
