As a Dental Nurse Apprentice,your role within the practice is an important role in supporting the dentist and the rest of the team.

The role as an Apprentice Dental nurse will include;

  • Keeping the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean,tidy and sterile as appropriate to the practice's health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Provide chair-side assistance to the dentist,ensuring that the correct equipment and materials are available
  • Ensure the care and welfare of patients 
  • Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
  • Accurately complete patient records and liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
  • Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, Mercury handling, Infection Control and Waste disposal etc.

This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
