This is a fantastic opportunity to work as an Apprentice 1st/2nd Line IT Support Engineer  for a rapidly growing, forward thinking IT support company that provides a wide range of IT services to small and medium sized businesses across Manchester and beyond.

Who you’ll work for:

They’re an IT support company providing a wide range of IT services from a South Manchester base.  The organisation was established in 2007 when the company founder decided it was time to leave the world of corporate IT and create his own company. They are keen to help small and medium sized businesses make the most of what technology can offer.

Your core responsibilities as an Apprentice 1st/2nd Line IT Support Engineer will be to provide 1st and some 2nd line support to a variety of clients with varying complexities of IT infrastructures and networks.

As an Apprentice 1st/2nd Line IT Support Engineer, your job includes:

  • Logging Helpdesk calls accurately
  • Basic technical trouble shooting (e.g. password resets; cabling; access; workstation configuration; virus removal, data recovery)
  • Building PCs, configuring machines, hardware repairs
  • Installation of software
  • Liaise with and assign incidents to correct team members (dependent on their role/ technical skill)
  • Close cases within SLA timeframes
  • Work on cases remotely, via telephone, email and internet
  • Phone and email 3rd parties
  • Assist Support Senior Support Engineer with proactive support e.g. server maintenance, antivirus installation, software updates
  • Be responsible for resolution of tickets assigned by the Support Team Leader

Qualifications required

You don’t need loads of professional experience in IT. However, you’ll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and IT / Science.

The employer has previously employed 4 apprentices over the past 4 years. All have been successful in continuing employment within the company so, by working hard and demonstrating your ability, drive and commitment throughout your 12-18 month apprenticeship scheme, upon completion you will be offered a permanent contract ensuring you have further opportunities to continue growing within this exciting organisation.
