Within this role you will gain a range of skills and experience in various departments pivotal to working in the food and beverage industry.

You will gain practical experience in the day to day duties involved in carrying out a Café and restaurant role in the Coach House Café and the Savile restaurant which requires production and service of hot or cold food, alongside this the provision of excellent customer service. You will also be given the opportunity to gain experience at high end hospitality and catering events, such as weddings. If you are looking to start a career in hospitality, this opportunity is varied and unique and will provide you with a wide range of experience across the sector.

  • Preparing sandwiches/wraps and cakes for lunch service
  • Managing the bar, serving drinks and hot beverages and waiting on in the restaurant
  • Waiting on in the restaurant, including the outside seated area in the café
  • Involvement in outside catering such as weddings
  • Developing customer services to a high level

About the employer

Rufford Abbey Country Park is the estate and grounds of a former 12 century Cistercian Monastery and country house. One of the main country parks that make up the broader Sherwood Forest area, the attraction is popular with visitors throughout the year. There are two places to eat and drink at the main area of Rufford Abbey, the Coach House cafe is located in the main courtyard and the Lord Savile's Kitchen can be found at the back of the abbey near the entrance to the gardens.

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Services, incorporating NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hospitality Services, plus Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles
  • Level 1 Functional Skills

  • Other industry / coaching qualifications as directed by the employer
  • Training will be a mix of day release once a month, to undertake skills sessions working alongside our highly trained staff at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground
  • An Assessor will also visit you in the workplace to complete observations and gather information for the NVQ

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. * Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation * * Please note if the successful applicant is found prior to the closing date the vacancy maybe withdrawn early* This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employers address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions.
